Our client is seeking a senior experienced broadcast engineer, team leader or manager, to become a Technology Manager to oversee and lead all technical staff and facilities.
The Network Operations Centre (NOC) provides 24/7 broadcast operations to channels on the UK DTT (Freeview) platform. The successful applicant must have excellent technical knowledge across MCR, contribution, multiplexing, distribution, transmission technology and broadcast services provision.
The experienced engineer will oversee the support and maintenance of all the technical (broadcast / IT / telecoms) systems to deliver a great service to their broadcast customers. This position will suit an engineer that wishes to step-up into management (head of) but remain hands on from fixing issues to overseeing system changes, improvements, and upgrade projects.
Additionally, the Engineering Manager will oversee:
- MCR technical operations team - staff rotas, approving holiday requests and arranging shift cover with staff or freelancers where required
- a reporting system and provide monthly reports to the general manager
- planned works to minimize the effects upon service availability
- third party suppliers of technical services including networks, multiplex systems and transmission.
This could suit a broadcast system engineering manager that is happy to be hands-on, or an experienced engineer with some supervisory or team leader experience, looking for the next step to fully manage an operation that includes a small technical team of MCR staff and IT/broadcast engineers.
This position is Monday-Friday with standard 40-hours per week based at the Network Operations Centre. This role cannot be performed from home or remotely. The standard hours are 9am-6pm, there is some flex here but ideally the role will be around these approx. hours. The Engineering Manager will also require a willingness to work out of core hours as part of the senior management team, to take occasional calls and support the team, including sometimes at in evenings and weekends.
