Job Description

Our client, a global leader in the design and manufacture of specialist robotic systems seek a flexible, proactive team player to join their engineering team.

In this role you will help design and deliver new products, customise existing ones, and provide support through guidance from engineering leads. This role involves close collaboration with the production department and engineering and support teams to produce customised design solutions. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design parts, sub-systems, and top-level assemblies using 3D CAD software.
  • Develop new products and improve existing systems.
  • Produce technical drawings to the latest standards.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation.
  • Optimise designs for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA).
  • Work on upgrades, updates, and modifications with the support team.
  • Conduct and record calculations for proof-of-concept and testing.
  • Evaluate new designs with the test department.
  • Produce technical reports to support development work.
  • Cost parts for prototyping and production, managing supplier interactions,

To be considered you will have: 

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 2-3 years experience in designing and developing complex mechanical systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of statics, dynamics, mechanical and rotating systems, DFM/DFA, 3D modeling (Solid Edge or similar), GD&T, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Good knowledge of motors, gears, belt drives, chain drives, materials selection, rapid prototyping, troubleshooting, and technical specifications.
  • Robotics and electromechanical devices, data capture and low-backlash systems knowledge is also highly desirable.
