About the company:

Working with an award-winning VPaaS (Video Platform as a Service) provider, simplifying complex video streaming workflows for live and on-demand video at scale. Their AWS-hosted platform supports some of the biggest names in TV, media and sports globally.

The Role:

As a Hybrid TV Developer, you'll focus on developing, maintaining, and deploying their flagship product to customers. You'll ensure their code base is clean and maintainable, working across a wide range of big screen devices. If you're a self-starter with experience in Smart TV technology, this role is for you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to a TV-optimized JavaScript application based on React/Preact.
  • Refactor and optimize code performance.
  • Collaborate with QA and delivery teams for feature releases.
  • Manage third-party integrations for analytics and video ad serving.
  • Provide technical guidance to design, commercial, and product teams.
  • Create HTML-5 apps for Freeview Play, Freesat, YouView, Samsung, LG, Hisense, PlayStation, Xbox, and more.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with modern React applications.
  • Expertise in styling pixel-perfect UIs using CSS.
  • Commercial experience developing TV/big screen apps.
  • Proficiency with HTML-5 media players.
  • Comfortable using Git for source control.
  • Knowledge of TypeScript.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and excellent at time management.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum).
  • Experience with other Connected TV frameworks like React Native, Preact, Enact, Lightning, or TAL.
  • Optimizing HTML/JavaScript apps for resource-constrained environments.
  • Debugging and troubleshooting Connected TV devices.
  • Developing apps with a TV-optimised UX.
  • Understanding of VOD, live streaming and DRM
  • Unit and end-to-end testing.
  • Interest in learning new platforms and technologies.
