FPGA Embedded Electronics Engineer

A technology-focused organization is seeking an experienced FPGA Embedded Electronics Engineer to join its Research & Development team. The company develops advanced real-time video, networking, and embedded solutions used in demanding professional environments worldwide. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative engineering culture and enjoys working on high-performance, mission-critical systems.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Hardware Engineering, you will contribute to the design, development, and validation of FPGA-based architectures and embedded systems. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to define technical requirements, implement designs, and ensure robust verification and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze system-level architecture requirements and assess technical resource needs

  • Draft and maintain detailed technical specifications

  • Design FPGA architectures aligned with product objectives

  • Develop FPGA code using VHDL or Verilog

  • Create and maintain build, test, and automation scripts

  • Establish and manage both virtual and hardware-based validation processes

  • Implement designs on target hardware platforms

  • Conduct validation testing and produce associated documentation

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in Electronics or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in FPGA and embedded development

  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to work both autonomously and within a team

  • Good command of English

Required Skills

  • Solid hands-on experience with Xilinx FPGA development

  • Strong understanding of digital video interfaces, video processing standards (e.g., SMPTE 2110, JPEG XS), and high-speed communication buses (PCIe, USB3, DDR4)

  • Proficiency with timing constraints, simulation tools (e.g., Questa), synthesis/place-and-route tools (e.g., Vivado), and configuration management platforms (Git, Bitbucket, JIRA)

  • Experience with advanced on-target verification methods (e.g., low-level embedded software on FPGA for test routines) is an asset

Preferred Attributes

  • Motivated by ambitious technical challenges in a growing and innovation-driven environment
