Job Description

We are seeking an innovative and strategic Head of Technology to lead and shape the technology framework for a leading broadcast organisation based in London. This role is essential in ensuring the alignment of technology initiatives with broader business goals, with a particular focus on integrating advanced broadcast and IT technologies, emphasizing cloud security and resilience.

The Head of Technology will bring expert knowledge in modern broadcast technologies, ranging from studio production to signal distribution (including satellite, live streaming, VOD, and OTT), as well as newsroom workflows. You will manage a multidisciplinary team that covers broadcast engineering, IT, and digital products, acting as the central point of communication between the technology department, internal teams, and key external partners.

In this position, your primary responsibility will be to steer the company’s technology strategies to meet long-term business objectives. You will collaborate closely with both internal teams and external partners to ensure all technological solutions are secure, reliable, and future-proof. By managing key partnerships with technology providers, you will play a crucial role in guiding decisions on technology purchases and contracts. Additionally, you will oversee the performance of the engineering teams, ensuring that best practices are in place for the seamless operation of broadcast systems. You'll also ensure that all technology implementations align with the company's strategic vision.

Applicants should have a background in broadcast engineering, coupled with experience in technology leadership. A strong knowledge of news production workflows is essential, as is a solid grasp of cloud technologies (ideally AWS) within the broadcast sector. Excellent analytical skills, the ability to solve complex problems, and exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities are crucial, along with the capability to work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and manage relationships with external suppliers.
