Job Description
We’re working with a global technology business that builds mission-critical software for live environments - where reliability, timing, and performance matter more than feature velocity.
This is not a typical product engineering role.
The software you’ll work on operates in real time, often under intense pressure, supporting live data, visual output, and broadcast-grade systems. There’s no “we’ll fix it in the next release” mentality - things need to work when it counts.
Who this role suits
This position is best suited to an experienced software developer who:
- enjoys complex, real-time systems and integration work
- is comfortable owning problems end-to-end
- stays calm and methodical when things are time-critical
- prefers meaningful technical challenges over polished roadmaps
- doesn’t mind non-standard hours when the work justifies it
You’ll be working closely with engineers, creatives, and operational teams, translating fast-moving requirements into robust, production-ready software.
The Work
The work typically involves:
- designing and building high-performance applications used in live environments
- integrating multiple data sources, APIs, and third-party systems
- optimising reliability and performance under real-world conditions
- contributing to architectural decisions and longer-term technical direction
- supporting deployments where timing and accuracy are critical
There is variety in the work, and no two projects are identical.
Technical Background
Successful candidates will typically bring:
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- strong proficiency in one or more of: C++, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python
- experience with modern frameworks and APIs
- an understanding of real-time systems, data pipelines, or live production environments (broadcast, media, sport, or similar)
- strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Experience in live, broadcast, media, or event-driven environments is a plus, but not essential for the right mindset.
Practical Details
- Full-time role
- US-based (remote or hybrid options depending on location)
- Some evening/weekend work is required due to the nature of live operations
- Competitive compensation and benefits, aligned with senior-level engineering roles
