Job Description
We are working with a well-established and highly respected broadcast services provider to recruit a Head of Commercial as part of an exciting growth and rebuild phase. This organisation delivers high-quality live programming, studio facilities, outside broadcasts and post-production services to major UK broadcasters across sport, entertainment, music, political and current affairs programming. This is a senior, high-impact role offering significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape commercial direction.
Forming part of the Senior Management Team, the Head of Commercial will take ownership of the full commercial lifecycle across Outside Broadcasts, Studios and Post-Production.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Managing inbound enquiries and overseeing all quoting activity
-
Leading the end-to-end bid process (qualification through to contract award)
-
Producing and presenting high-quality proposals
-
Leading commercial negotiations (pricing, scope, margin, terms)
-
Driving revenue and margin growth across all service lines
-
Strengthening and expanding client relationships
-
Supporting the development of a scalable commercial/bids function
While the role will manage inbound activity, there is a clear opportunity to introduce greater proactivity and structured business development.
We are particularly keen to speak with individuals who combine technical broadcast knowledge with commercial capability. Previous experience working as an OB Unit Manager, Senior Technical Manager, Resource Manager or Technical Producer can be considered if comfortable translating complex technical requirements (e.g. multi-camera OBs, large-scale event productions, studio packages) into structured, commercially robust proposals. Experience within major live projects or high-profile events is important as is good OB experience.
Key attributes:
-
Strong commercial awareness (margin, pricing strategy, risk management)
-
Experience shaping and pricing technical bids
-
Confidence in client-facing situations
-
Excellent written communication skills
-
Ability to manage multiple opportunities under tight deadlines
The business is investing in strengthening its commercial presence and rebuilding capability, and offers genuine scope to:
-
Influence go-to-market strategy
-
Enhance industry visibility
-
Build longer-term agreements and partnerships
-
Recruit and develop additional commercial resource as the function grows
Please note this role is hybrid and can be based anywhere in England, but candidates must be willing to regularly travel to client sites, company offices and industry events.
Only candidates with the right to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship will be considered.
