Job Description

Our client, a growing provider of live transmission services to the television industry are looking to expand their team by hiring a permanent Systems Engineer. Within this position, you will play a key role in providing technical expertise and be responsible for administering Linux environments, including the configuration and deployment of various systems. You will work closely with other teams across the business to ensure the high availability of their systems, guaranteeing seamless content to their clients and dealing with any technical issues that arise. You will take ownership of the systems and lead projects from concept to deployment as well as monitoring the performance of broadcast transmission systems. 

You should have 

  • In depth experience with various Linux environments (Rocky, Debian, Ubuntu)
  • Solid understanding of systems engineering principles, Linux OS and related hardware
  • Experience with monitoring systems, such as Dataminer, OpenNMS, Netbox, Influx
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Google, GCE, Azure)
  • Knowledge and experience of networking technologies including TCP/IP and multicast 
  • Experience with high availability systems for live broadcasting or telecommunications 

Any of the following would be advantageous 

  • Scripting (Python, Shell, Bash, Ruby, Ansible
  • Familiarity with broadcast transmission, encoders, decoders, video routers
  • Understanding of real-time transport protocols such as RTP, UDP and MPEG-TS 

This role would suit an aspiring Systems Engineer who is self-motivated and keen to take ownership of the systems infrastructure.
