Job Description

A global media services company is seeking a Satellite Systems Specialist for its UK teleport station in Shropshire. The role focuses on managing and supporting satellite systems operations, maintenance, and new installations in the UK, with occasional international travel required.

The Satellite System Specialist will collaborate with local engineering teams to ensure efficient satellite system operations. While the primary focus is satellite service management, the role may also involve supporting other technical and maintenance tasks to ensure high service availability.

Job Purpose:

  • Work Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with occasional out-of-hours support.
  • Operate and maintain satellite teleport and ground systems.
  • Plan and prioritise tasks to meet client needs and ensure high service availability.
  • Plan, price, and coordinate satellite installations and upgrades.
  • Provide service management data and customer reports.
  • Conduct system performance analysis and lead Planned Engineering Works.
  • Design new service solutions, including link budget calculations.
  • Present system performance data to internal teams and clients.
  • Support non-satellite systems as needed.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of satellite communications (C, Ku, Ka bands).
  • Experience at a satellite teleport with broadcast clients is preferred however alternative sectors such as telecommunications or armed forces will definitely be considered.
  • Expertise in RF transmission, DVB coding, modulation systems, and satellite antenna alignment.
  • Experience with IP networking, SNMP, and remote monitoring.
  • Willingness to travel and support installations worldwide.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Full UK driving license.
