Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated MCR Technical Operator to join our dynamic team. This role involves performing to a high technical and professional standard in the operational duties required within a busy Master/Satellite Control Room and providing support to the transmission area and machine room as needed. As part of this hands-on role, you will coordinate resources to meet client needs and support live event-based operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Signal routing, fibre and satellite transmissions, and file transfer.
  • Monitoring signals, implementing escalation procedures, and providing first-line maintenance.
  • Transcoding, format, and standards conversion to meet service requirements.
  • Acting on client requests and providing front-line technical support.
  • Fault finding and responding to technical queries.
  • Liaising with clients, handling bookings, and traffic coordination while contributing to customer requirements.
  • Managing out-of-hours bookings and scheduling.
  • Logging work details for costing purposes and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Contributing to operational procedures and drafting SOPs aligned with client needs.
Knowledge & Experience

We are looking for candidates with the following technical expertise:

  • A solid understanding of baseband video, associated artefacts, and common faults.
  • Knowledge of MPEG4/MPEG2/ASI in fibre and satellite transmissions.
  • Familiarity with IP video streaming technologies.
  • Strong grounding in RF and satellite distribution.
  • Experience with Playout workflows, HyperDeck playout, and DekTec (advantageous).
  • Previous hands-on experience in an MCR/Operations environment.
