Job Description
Our client, a leading broadcast studio is looking to recruit a Head of Transmission & MCR to bring together the Transmission and Master Control Room (MCR) functions under one unified leadership structure. This role will be responsible for driving operational excellence across playout and broadcast operations, while leading the transition toward a modern, cloud-enabled and IP-based broadcast environment.
This is a key leadership role focused on transformation, scalability, and future-proofing broadcast delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership

Oversee playout and broadcast operations across two existing channels, with scope to support a potential third channel launch.

Lead and manage the combined Transmission and MCR teams (30+ staff), ensuring high performance, reliability, and compliance.

Ensure seamless, high-quality channel output across all distribution platforms.

Maintain robust incident management processes and operational resilience.
Transformation & Modernisation

Lead the transition to a new playout system.

Drive the migration toward cloud-based playout infrastructure.

Support the evolution to IP-based distribution workflows.

Implement scalable systems and processes that enable significantly faster channel launches.

Champion modern broadcast technologies and software-driven workflows.
Essential Experience

Strong background in transmission, playout, and/or MCR operations.

Proven experience leading broadcast operations teams.

Hands-on understanding of playout systems and broadcast workflows.

Experience managing operational change within a live broadcast environment.
Desirable Experience

Background in live sports or news broadcasting environments.

Experience working within cloud-based playout systems.

Familiarity with software-driven and IP-based broadcast workflows.
