Job Description

Are you an experienced Floor Manager with a passion for live television? Do you thrive in a fast-paced news studio environment? A news organisation is looking for a highly skilled professional to join their team  on a 12 month fixed-term contract and play a key role in delivering live and pre-recorded television productions.

As a Floor Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating presenters, contributors, and crew to ensure smooth and professional broadcasts. You’ll play a crucial role in maintaining studio discipline, safety, and technical efficiency during rehearsals, recordings, and live transmissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the studio floor, ensuring health and safety protocols are met.
  • Coordinate guests, presenters, and crew to maintain a seamless production.
  • Communicate effectively with directors, autocue, sound, and lighting teams.
  • Ensure on-screen talent is ready for air, including mic and IEM checks.
  • Supervise and coordinate set changes, props, and technical equipment.
  • Provide cues, time counts, and positioning instructions to presenters.
  • Maintain studio cleanliness and organization.
  • Troubleshoot and escalate studio floor issues as needed.
  • Adapt to last-minute changes in the news agenda and studio setup.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience as a Floor Manager in live television or a news studio.
  • Strong understanding of broadcast studio equipment and workflows.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced live news environment.
  •  Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking ability.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of studio health and safety regulations.
  • Flexible approach to shift work, including overnights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • A keen interest in global news and current affairs.
