  • Designing, implementing, and documenting technical projects to deliver reliable and resilient solutions.

  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to create efficiencies and optimize technical operations using existing resources.

Role Overview

The Senior Broadcast Engineer will serve as a technical leader within the London Technology team, focusing on on-premise broadcast systems. The role involves working closely with technology leadership and project teams, providing second-line (and occasionally first-line) support, contributing to projects, troubleshooting, and ensuring best practices are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Support

  • Ensure an optimal experience for our audience at all times.

  • Act as the second-line escalation point for broadcast support issues.

  • Follow support and ticketing workflows to resolve issues efficiently and keep stakeholders informed.

  • Oversee and manage periodic maintenance plans for broadcast infrastructure.

Projects

  • Participate in broadcast technology implementation projects, working with internal teams and external vendors to ensure long-term supportability.

  • Ensure compliance with business continuity, disaster recovery, and cyber-security requirements.

  • Support change management processes and planned engineering works.

  • Occasionally represent the support function to other areas of the business.

Oversight

  • Promote and implement best practices, proper documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Assist the team in responding quickly and effectively to technical and operational issues, including making critical decisions under pressure.

  • Define and implement procedures for handling mission-critical issues.

  • Regularly review and contribute to the internal knowledge base to improve support efficiency.

  • Work with internal and external subject matter experts to perform long-term root cause analysis and develop resolution plans for faults or failures.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior broadcast engineering role or similar.

  • Strong understanding of broadcast systems and technologies, including SDI, IP, networking, software, and servers (both physical and virtual).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of cyber-security and resilience best practices in broadcast environments.

  • Proven ability to create comprehensive technical documentation.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience in project design and delivery of technical solutions.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure to minimize downtime.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
